If a good bulb doesn't light and the socket isn't corroded, check the trunk to trunk lid wiring where it bends most sharply approaching the trunk lid. You can slide down the black sheath to inspect the wiring. The wires have too small of a bending radius, and eventually crack and break

That's how it controls the air mixture and fan speed when it's at auto and stuff. Fan goes out, it has no idea what to blow.

"Heat Soak" is the first suspect to cause what you describe. That is a situation where engine heat (transfer of heat from hot block to fuel rail after hot shutdown) boils or vaporizes fuel in the fuel rail, forming vapor pockets in the rail which prevent proper, uniform, injector function upon restart attempted ~ 3 to 20 minutes after hot shutdown. 2007 e92 pre LCI n54 53k miles. RHD Owned the car 8 years, heaters and air con never failed. Bettery died and blowers stopped working, New battery installed and registered Still no blower function, hot, cold nor any setting in between. Blower motor fuse good. New blower motor installed, still no function. Having the water pump in a non rotating mode during warmup must certainly speed up that process. Changing an E90/E92 thermostat is most likely a job for those high priced auto surgeons in their white coats. 2007 335I, " Gray", Black Leather, Step, Comfort, ZCW, ZPP, ED - Oct 5, 2006. NOTE 2: On Windows & Linux, the "F3" hotkey will jump to the next find; "shift F3" will reverse the find; "enter" will open the current link. Searching for "heater core" came up red; but searching for "heater": - Heater Valve replace (Hot air only) DIY. - Heater control valve replacement. - Heater hot water valve repair.

Locomotivebart said: It's perfectly normal for the AC to come on when you press auto. Not only does the AC cool the car, it also removes moisture from the air. For the no heat, I would look into whether your water valve is working or not. It failed on my old 330 but the symptoms were opposite, all I got was heat.
