Achieving the highest score in all five lens metric categories, the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VD USD is the best standard zoom lens on the Nikon D750. It wins with an overall DxOMark score of 28 points, just ahead of Nikon’s own AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED with 27 points and the older 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF with 23 points.
The Nikon Nikkor Z 70-200mm F2.8 VR S is the first of its type for Nikon’s Z series full-frame mirrorless cameras. As an f/2.8 S-type intended for pros and serious amateurs, it features a better build and a high-grade optical system that’s not so dependent on built-in profile corrections as the f/4 S-type models.
DxOMark only test one copy of a lens. LensRentals has tested a statistically robust sample of 10 copies of each of the leading 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, but only at full aperture. LensRentals found the Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 ED VR gave the best performance in the outer areas of the frame.

I’ve had two Nikon 24-70 f2.8 lenses and one Nikon 24-120 f4 lens. While the 24-120 is a sharp lens, the 24-70 has a very nice creamy smooth look to its images. The 24-70 creates beautiful images.
The Sigma Art series 24-70mm f/2.8 lens’s overall score of 31 on the Nikon D810 puts it 5 points behind the maker’s 24-35mm f/2, which is a noticeable margin. We expected the new lens to be closer.
