What is a 3.5 L Ti VCT V6 engine? One of the engine variants originally developed by Ford is the series of 3.5 L Ti-VCT Engine. This series is a part of the Ford Cyclone family. The Ford Cyclone Family itself is a group of Ford engines that naturally aspirated gasoline. Previously, Ford Cyclone was known as Duratec, developed by this brand in 2006.
Reliability over time-Ford 3.3 v6 vs 2.7 ecoboost. The F-150's I'm looking at come with one of these two engines. I test drove one with the 3.3 in it the other day and it seemed to be adequate enough. Would make the tires chirp and get on out into traffic. WAY stouter than the 4.2 they used to use that was in the '98 F-150 my mom had way back when.

12439 posts · Joined 2013. #13 · Jun 28, 2015. Basically, with the 3.6l/6-speed combo, you get a 300hp engine with the same fuel efficiency (or better) as the 3.5L 211hp engine. On the highway, some have reported as high as 40mpg at certain speeds! City mileage is probably about the same between the two.
The EPA rates that engine (in a 2WD F-150) at 20 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. Going 4WD takes those figures to 21 combined/19 city/24 highway. More power, and still more fuel economy, it seems. (Keep in mind that the 3.3-liter still uses Ford’s six-speed automatic, while the 2.7 receives the new 10-speed.)
